Shepherds Ministries exists to glorify Jesus Christ by supporting people with intellectual disabilities to reach their potential.
Shepherds is a nationally recognized, non-profit, Christian organization located in Union Grove, Wisconsin. Our ministry's goal is to help every person we serve reach his or her God-given potential through our residential, educational, vocational, recreational and spiritual programs. Each member of the Shepherds family is treated as a special creation of God and is given the highest level of personalized care in all areas - spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, and social.
Shepherds is committed to the philosophy of Appropriate Independence™, a level of self-sufficiency that is aligned with individual strengths and guided by Christian values. It is the guiding philosophy in our ministry; it is applied in our programs and activities, and all our future plans and decisions must be measured by its standards.
- We believe all people are Designed On and For Purpose by a loving God.
- Every person is Created as an Individual for Community. All people should have places where they belong, where they are needed, and where they can find the love of family.
- We Train for Life in ways that are practical, continual and eternal.
- Our clients, residents and students are Empowered to Serve others, to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
The Endeavor Program is the long-term residential aspect of Shepherds Ministries. The adult men and women in this program live and work on our beautiful 92+ acre campus.
The Catalyst Program provides support and guidance to individuals qualified for independent living. Some clients live on campus in group homes and some live in the community but contract with Shepherds for needed services such as transportation or financial assistance.
Our Respite Program is a way for people with intellectual disabilities to spend anywhere from a day to a month on the Shepherds Ministries campus for a time of respite. Available year-round, the Respite Program can provide a break from the continued care of a loved one, a way to make new friends and learn new skills, or an evaluation of our ministry in consideration of permanent placement.
Day Services is a day program designed to help our clients stay active and grow in all areas of their lives. Planned activities encourage skill development in the areas of communication, organization, education, social life, and safety.
Camp Discovery offers one-week camps throughout the summer for young people, ages 13 to 21, with intellectual disabilities. Through a variety of skill-building classes and fun activities like field trips, boating, crafts, Bible studies, sports and computers, Camp Discovery can help students discover the possibilities that lie ahead.
Shepherds Enterprises supports our mission by providing adults with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to reach their full potential in the area of employment. It also provides opportunities and training for individuals to work in jobs that match their interest and abilities, preparing them to find and keep jobs both on campus and in the community.
Shepherds College is our three-year, accredited post-secondary program for young adults with intellectual disabilities. Students receive education, skills training and support to successfully bridge the gap from school to work, and from home to independent living. Along with studies in Culinary Arts and Horticulture,
Shepherds College offers a general education program that is focused on helping the students develop skills they will need for everyday life.
